Brush Pass is in closed testing on Google Play, and the thing it needs most right now is more real people playing real games on real phones. If you have an Android phone and 10 minutes a week, you can help — no experience with testing needed, and no experience with the game either.

Testing is unpaid and voluntary. You will never be asked to buy anything to take part, and you can stop whenever you like.

What you need

What we ask of a tester

• Install the build from Google Play once your invite arrives, and keep it installed for the length of the test. Google counts continuous installs, and so do we.
• Play at least one game a week. Online play is the most useful — tap Find a game and you will be seated at a table of four within about a minute, with AI filling any empty seats. Solo games against the AI count too.
• Tell us what broke, and what confused you. A crash, a stuck screen, a rule that did not do what you expected, a button you could not find. Confusion is a bug report; you do not have to know whose fault it is.
• Come to a play night if you can. We run occasional evenings where everyone plays at the same time. They are announced on the Discord and are entirely optional.
• Reply when we write to you. Tester emails are short and rare. A one-line reply tells us you are still in.

How sign-up works

There is a human step in the middle of this, so it is not instant. Here is the whole sequence.

1. Tell us who you are

   Email us with the Google account address that is signed in to the Play Store on your phone, what phone it is, and how you heard about us. That is all we need.

2. We add you to the tester lists

   A person — not a script — adds your Google account to the closed-testing list on Google Play and to the Play Games list that powers the league and rankings. It usually happens within a day or two, and you will get a reply from us when it is done, with your invite link in it.

3. Accept the invite, then install

   Open the invite link signed in as the same Google account, tap Become a tester, and then install Brush Pass from the Play Store on your phone. Two steps, one account. If the Play Store says the app is not available, the usual cause is that the phone is signed in to a different account than the one you gave us — tell us and we will sort it out.

4. Play, and tell us what happened

   Report problems in the Discord's #bug-reports channel, or by email. The most useful report has five things: your phone and Android version, the version stamp shown in the app's Settings, what you did, what you expected, and what actually happened — plus a screenshot if there is one. The app also keeps a playtest log on your phone; Settings → Playtesting lets you copy or download it to send with a report. It never leaves the phone unless you send it.

What happens with your details

Your email address is used for three things: to add you to the two tester lists above, to send you the invite, and to send the occasional tester update. It is not shared with anyone else and it is not used for anything else. Ask at any time and we will remove you from both lists and delete what we hold. The display name you choose in the game is visible to the people you play against; nothing else about you is.

Google Play and Play Games Services are operated by Google, and their own terms and privacy policies apply to the install and to your Play Games profile. Discord is operated by Discord Inc.; anything you post there is under their terms, so keep personal information out of bug reports.
